Fragments from history: 32 pieces from De ludo scachorum

Availability: 2 In Stock
Sku: DAMAPED

As part of the project which led to the reproduction of De ludo scachorum (On the Game of Chess) by Luca Pacioli, Aboca Museum presents a series of bronze chessmen. The pieces were made based on the designs in a manuscript by the mathematician and friar from Sansepolcro. It is the ideal gift for enthusiasts of the game and its intellectual challenges.

Reinterpreted by the Italian-American artist Franco Alessandrini, the chess pieces have been made in sandblasted and browned bronze.

The Aboca project, an exploration of the profound bond between man and nature, includes reinforcing the culture and history of its region, Val Tiberina in Tuscany. The classic interest in medicinal plants is therefore aligned with the production of objects and volumes associated with Sansepolcro and the surrounding lands.

Notes

The chessmen are supplied in an elegant oak wallet.
