The Flower Garden is the work of Robert Furber (1674-1756), the renowned English horticulturist and author. It is a collection of twelve enchanting illustrative plates artistically engraved and coloured by Henry Fletcher and James Smith, on the stylish drawings of the artist Pieter Casteels.
The Flower Garden was a very popular work; it was published in 1730 and reprinted a number of times. Its 400 attractive and fascinating plants that were presented and explained from month to month made it a resounding success.
The author was also keenly interested in fruit growing, and in 1732 he published a similar book entitled Twelve Months of Fruits.
